Some of our roles are remote and so we look for people who have the ability to work independently, set priorities, and complete work in a timely and accurate manner in order to meet multiple deadlines. We also look for those who have the ability to handle confidential information with an understanding of Information Security best practices.

1: Executive Assistant
Part-Time, Contract, Remote

The Executive Assistant brings amazing organizational, project administration and communication skills to our organization and helps ensure everything runs smoothly. You need to be dependable, responsible, self-starter able to function independently well under tight deadlines and able to take instructions and change requests in stride. We are looking for someone who delivers superior results when unsupervised and has meticulous attention to detail. Your greatest satisfaction is knowing you’ve taken care of the little details, so that others can focus on the big picture (but you’re able to see the big picture, too).

This role is part-time contract position until June 2018, with a possibility of extension for individuals who are indispensable. The ideal candidate is comfortable working remotely and has a secure work environment.

Primary tasks:

  • Ensure all details for active projects are captured and time is accurately tracked in our project management software. As required, create and oversee processes to improve efficiency.
  • Prepare agenda materials and letters for clients
  • Follow up with clients to collect missing information and schedule meetings
  • Create Excel spreadsheets, incl. data entry, error identification, building pivot tables
  • Research and report preparation
  • Technical document editing
  • Help manage files and finances (particularly expenses)
  • Any other administrative duties as necessary (including monitoring phone line)

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Experience in an Executive Assistant or project management role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). (Note: must be familiar with pivot tables in Excel and automatic Table of Contents in Word)
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills
  • Strong scheduling and coordination skills
  • Ability to plan and adapt to changing deadlines as needed

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience in Marketing, specifically Digital Marketing
  • Familiarity with Social Media for Business (LinkedIN, Twitter, Facebook)
  • Familiarity with WordPress
  • Familiarity with Xero and Shoeboxed (or similar accounting programs)

Remuneration:

Varies, depending on the level of experience ($17.50-25/hr).

2: Research and Technology Consultant (Various Fields of Science/Technology)
Part-Time, Contract, Remote

Primary tasks:

  • Generate compelling business and technical narratives for direct & indirect funding applications using appropriate terminology.
  • Develop and submit direct & indirect funding applications that are consistent with current program requirements (SR&ED, OIDMTC).
  • Independently advise on project scoping to determine project parameters and identify eligible R&D activities.
  • Identify, classify, and review related expenditures to ensure compliance with funding program requirements.
  • Additional client-management tasks, depending on level of seniority (ex. onsite meetings, eligibility assessments, etc).

Secondary tasks:

  • Research federal, provincial, municipal funding programs, tax credits, and financing sources, as well as technology & current development methodologies.
  • Research the SR&ED program and write compelling articles for online distribution.
  • Develop and deliver training materials on SR&ED.
  • Any other project-related or administrative tasks as required.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (English).
  • Advanced abilities in MS Word and Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Passion for learning new skills and techniques outside of your normal area of expertise.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and complete work in a timely and accurate manner in order to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and willingness to abide by all IT and IS policies and processes.
  • Impeccable organizational and customer relationship skills.
  • Knowledge & experience with the CRA’s Scientific Research & Experimental Development program. (If you do not have this experience, consider starting as an assistant.)

Highly Desirable:

  • Knowledge & experience with the OMDC’s Ontario Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit program.
  • Experience with applying to government funding programs (direct & indirect).

Education:

  • A university degree in a field of Science or Technology is required.
  • Hand-on experience in Computer Science is considered an asset.
  • Candidacy for a Master’s or PhD level degree would be considered an asset.
  • Additional qualifications in business (BCom, MBA) or finance (CPA) would be considered an asset.

Remuneration:

Currently $30-75/hr, depending on the level of experience and knowledge of the SR&ED program.

Current students with no experience are welcome to apply for our internship program. Rates of pay match those the Government of Canada.
