Elizabeth Lance co-founded The InGenuity Group in 2008 and has spent nearly two decades helping Canadian innovators turn R&D into refundable tax credits. She has guided 500+ SR&ED claims to a 99% success rate, recovering millions for clients across mining, drilling, hardware, pharmaceutical, and software.
Beyond client work, Elizabeth helps shape the program itself. She contributed to the Department of Finance’s 2024 SR&ED reform consultations — through the TSX Innovation Roundtable and independently — and presents annually at the CRA’s national SR&ED Stakeholders Webcast. She founded SR&ED Education and Resources (SREDucation.ca), has authored 400+ articles on SR&ED, manages the largest SR&ED-focused LinkedIn group, and has been cited by outlets including CBC and the Ottawa Business Journal.
An award-winning consultant (Forty Under 40), Elizabeth holds a MASc in Technology Innovation Management Engineering and is completing a doctorate in emerging technologies and AI.

Gilbert Lance, now retired, has been one of Canada’s foremost specialists in the SR&ED program and CRA tax credit administration. A former CRA Senior Science Advisor and Research and Technology Advisor (RTA) (and The InGenuity Group’s resident SR&ED veteran), he brought his extensive and invaluable years of experience at the CRA to his clients’ R&D tax claims. Having been one of the key policy makers for the SR&ED program, Gilbert had an unprecedented degree of familiarity with SR&ED.
At the core of Gilbert’s professional philosophy is a commitment to sharing his knowledge. In keeping with this, he continued to participate in the CRA’s SR&ED Software Committee as both a presenter and a presentation writer, and acted as a contributing writer to The InGenuity Group’s SR&ED Education and Resources website until his retirement.
Gilbert spent over three decades as an SR&ED advisor with direct experience, both as an SR&ED RTA and in private industry. Whether working in the public or private sector, Gilbert brought a person touch to every endeavour, taking the time to build strong and lasting professional relationships with his clients; something that his daughter proudly continues to do.
